Created with the intention of shining a light on mugwort, an herb steeped deeply in tradition, magic, and medicine for body and spirit, Mugwort Mint is a small-batch limited-quantity offering, blended with lovingly grown Nova Scotian mugwort.
Ingredients:
Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is an herb steeped in tradition, magic and deeply nestled in the medicine pouch of many wise women and green men (not to leave you out because we love you). Mugwort is used for its medicine for both body and spirit. Well known as an herb that’s used to enhance dreaming, mugwort, whose plant name is Artemisis vulgaris, is part of the Artemis(ia) family of herbs which is named for the goddess Artemis, goddess of the moon, and caretaker of women, children and animals.
As an aromatic bitter herb, Mugwort has the combined actions of acting as a digestive stimulant as well as possessing warming and anti-spasmodic properties. In women’s medicine mugwort has the reputation of promoting regular menstruation and helping bring on a delayed cycle. Since it is stimulating to the uterus, mugwort is contraindicated in pregnancy and for women with heavy menstrual cycles.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is commonly used as a digestive aid that can have a positive effect on many digestive conditions. The volatile oils responsible for these effects have such a stimulating, refreshing aroma, that people commonly use the smell alone to help them feel energized.
